This thesis focus on detailed analyses of the early Czech films of director Miloš Forman including short sketches Audition (1963), If There Were No Music (1963), feature films Black Peter (1964), Loves of A Blonde (1965) and The Firemen’s Ball (1967). The analysis of the specific films centers upon the thematic and stylistic consistencies that established Forman’s authorial discourse with- in its industrial and historical context, namely the nationalized film industry under the leadership of Communist party and one of the most important movements in world cinema The Czechoslovak New Wave.
