Through a pattern of repetition, and audiovisual ordering of filmic language, the directors Reggio and Fricke of Koyaanisqatsi (1982) and Baraka (1992) respectively have created a new genre of cultural documentary - the Global City-Symphony. They have done this through their careful consideration of psychological (Jungian and Lacanian) and social film attributes, and their creative endeavors in pioneering their style and craft.
